Sydney’s Impression 悉尼印象

First Day in Sydney悉尼第一天

王唯佳高一1 Jan 26  After a long boring flight, we finally arrived in Sydney.

I heard that Sydney is the busiest city in Australia, so I thought it must be a very large and modern city—full of tall buildings, full of noises, and full of people who are rushing to work and study. However, when I reached Sydney, my mind was changed. Actually, it is a really relaxing city – although it is really busy.

Between the avenues, there are many parks which are covered with green grasses. People who have picnics sit on the grass, chatting, and eating, wearing smiles. The birds walk freely between the people, enjoying themselves beneath the sweet sunshine.

When we arrived at Sydney Opera House, we were surprised by the view. A dozen of sea-gulls flew around the bay, and the opera house was wonderful. Although the weather was very hot, the sea wind was cool. My camera kept working until we left the Sydney Opera House!

Today is the Australian’s National Day. The citizens were waving their national flay here and there. Well, I want to say, they really love their motherland.

I don’t like the venders in Sydney. Their maths are really poor – they can’t give you the right amount of change.

What about my attitude to this city? Briefly, it is, vivid Sydney, relaxing Sydney, and interesting Sydney.

Amazing but exhausted – that’s what I fell after a day’s hard trip. It is never easy to keep yourself active for whole day especially when you didn’t sleep well the day before. Just after a 9  hour airplane journey, I had to continue to visit Sydney which is the biggest city in Australia.

Though it was tiring, I felt really excited. It was the national day of Australia, so there ere full of people in the streets. Enjoying the wonderful activities held by the locals, I took a visit to the New South Wales University, the Sydney Opera House the Victoria Building and so on.

What impressed me most was the trip to the Sydney Opera House. A t first we were just allowed to have a look at the building from a far distance. However, then I made great use of my spare time and went in the opera house in the end. Great views should be made by ourselves, right?

Whatever, hope a sunny day tomorrow and just enjoy myself on the beautiful beach!

After 9 hours flyingI arrived in Sydney on 26th, January, 2013. Before this trip, my feeling was complicated because it is the first time that I go abroad. But when we arrived everything I saw was new and all my bad feelings changed into expectation.

It is summer in Australia. The weather was fine when we arrived. The sunlight was not too strong and I can see the blue sky with some clouds. Then we went to some places of interest, such as the Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, which is the best place to enjoy the sight of Sydney Opera House. I can also enjoy the fresh wind from sea there.

There are also many differences between China and Australia. In China, people are banned to walk on the grasses, but in Australia, people are encouraged to do so. They can sit on the grasses and have a picnic. I can also see many pigeons and some big birds walking on the grasses. To my surprise, they are not afraid of people. In China, you can never see such wonderful scene. If I got the chance to stay in Sydney for a whole day without any plan or schedule, I would choose to sit on the beautiful grasses and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere alone.

Rainy Sydney 雨中悉尼

The Beauty of Raining Sydney

It is now 8:30 pm, in Sydney. Sitting on the chair in the hotel, I am feeling really great to enjoy this quiet city. After getting totally wet during the trip, it is absolutely wonderful to recall all the beautiful memories of these two days in the raining city. Although most of us complained a lot about the weather, it was actually quite good for the Australians. Strong wind  and rain could help them feel better when surfing, and also raining days were precious for them. So why not just enjoy  the beautiful views the rain could offer instead of complaining?

In fact, we did see some wonderful views these two days. In addition to some nice beaches, there was a place that I really loved. This afternoon we went to see natural spring which was up to 60 meters high. The spring even gets higher under the heavy rain. With my body all wet, it was extremely cool to enjoy such wonderful scenes. I would never forget the moment when the water hit the stones and fly up into the sky. That was simply amazing!

It is still raining outside. The beauty and memories of raining Sydney will be always kept in my mind.

As we know, Sydney is a city filled with sunshine. However, we had a different experience today. WE visited Sydney beneath thick clouds, and went through a heavy rain.

The bus sent us to Woolongang – a small city near Pacific Ocean  The wind blew strongly, and we almost lost our balance! We didn’t see a blue, peaceful ocean as the one we imagined, and some of us were very disappointed. However, I think the ocean is beautiful in a way, because in my opinion, the ocean stands for power, if a sea is quiet and peaceful, it won’t be its real appearance. The sea we sea today, waves of which hit the land strongly, was the real sea I expected.

We went to a shopping mall then. I found that Australian people are not as lively as we imagined. We thought they greet each other everywhere before, but actually they don’t even in an elevator.

We get back to Sydney in the evening, It was still raining, and everything seemed much more silent. The whole city lay in peace.

Goodbye, Sydney! Tomorrow I will leave for Brisbane. I am not able to visit your aquarium this time, what a pity!

Jan 28th Mon

We often hear that Australia has beautiful beach and wonderful sunshine .Unfortunately, these two days Sydney was affected by a strong storm, so we had to play in the rainy and windy day! What a pity! My clothes, my shoe were all wet!

Although the weather made some troubles when we visited, we still had a lot of fun in these two days. I was really att racted by the quite and clean streets. And I like the powerful sea. When I walked on the street, I felt very comfortable and relief. I hope I can stay here for a long time.

These two days we visited many shops in Sydney. The goods in Australia are very expensive. Many of my friends asked me before I was about to leave for Australia: “ Could you bring me some gifts? “ I said without hesitation at that time : “ yes, of course! “ But now I know what kind of trouble I did get myself into!

In total, the experiences in Sydney are unforgettable. I will really treasure this valuable time.

Yesterday and today, it rained all day in Sydney. It changed my thought about Sydney. People usually all think there is just sunshine and heat in here, but we saw the other side of Sydney – cool and wet.

I saw many people walk without umbrella on the street. I guessed they like the feeling of walking in the rain! I wanted to walk in the street without an umbrella too, but the fact is that I can’t. So I give up this thought in the end.

Though it was raining, the city still looks beautiful. Nothing can change Sydney’s slow pace of life. And also I found out Australians usually pray and thank God for his grace. They seldom complain.

In these two days, I met many people. Most of them are kind but some of them are just so so.  But, overall, Sydney gave me a very good impression.

Soon our last day in Sydney will be over. I did enjoy the days we spent in Sydney.

Because it rained in the last two days, I was a little upset that I couldn’t enjoy the beautiful beach and sky as much I wanted. But the city still looked perfect in the rain.

It is delightful that people in Australia are nice and helpful as well. I asked them to take photo for me several times and they are always willing to help. The smiles on their faces rally warmed my heart.

We went to two different beaches. The former is larger and the sand there are tinier, which made us feel very good when we stood on it. I picked some shells which were brought on the beach by waves, and I really appreciated them. We enjoyed pasta, beef, pork, salad, fried rice, soup and other food at the restaurant, I started to get used to the western food and I tried to eat more.

The last scenery we visited was the Blow Hole. It is like t vertical cave above the surface of Pacific Ocean pointing straight to the sky, and when waves come over, they gather together and erupt through the upper hole like volcano, sometime the eruption can be 10 meters high.

Tomorrow we will head for Melbourne and live in a host family. it would be fun if I can stay in the same family with my roommates.
